Next to the infrastructure services such as the wiki, the WdKA working stations come with the following software environment:
GNU/Linux
Out of the box:
- Crunchbang GNU/Linux configured with the deb-multimedia repository. It is a Debian based operating system and therefore benefit from the Debian and the deb-multimedia package repositories that contains plethora of software useful for art, music and design.
Added separately, because not part of the repositories:
- Ardour 3
- Firefox Aurora
- Processing
- Arduino
The list of software is limited in this section simply because it is so trivial to install and remove software on Debian GNU/Linux that the list of free and open source software used within the course will be listed in the course material itself.
Mac OS
While Mac OS is most likely to be the default OS to boot on the stations, it comes pre-installed with the following free and open source software:
- Firefox Aurora
- VLC
- mencoder
- ffmpeg
- git
- mercurial
- fontforge
- imagemagick
- Audacity
- Ardour
- node.js
- MacPorts
- Gimp
- Scribus
- Pure Data
- Processing
- Arduino
- Supercollider
