We discussed about our previous decision of scanning relief. We shifted towards another idea with using contours of objects. We created handheld devices to keep the ironwire steady, starting working on rotors for the platform and tested if ironwire can melt through foam. It seemed to work with the smaller wire. the bigger wire didnt generate enough heat to melt through.

We went into boijmans and captured the linings of our objects with a small device with wire. I melted the foam again, this time with the lining of an object from boijmans. And bend a hard copper wire into the shape of one we made.

This worked, though it was hard to get the wire out of the foam. This is due the length of the wire and that it starts deforming by heat.

We built the device for the spinning. We went into woodworkshop, lasercutting and had to prep our spot. Me and Sjoerd gave the presentation, turns out the most interesting of our project was 'the theft' itself.

First, we laser cutted two gears. Then, We went into wood workshop, where we created the device from wood. Robin was in the metal workshop making a rod where the object can be placed in. Sadly, the object wasn't ready to perform yet. by the time we had to prepare our prestation, the device did not make the object rotate yet. we still had to glue the final pieces together.  We prepared the presentation spot. Me and Sjoerd gave the presentation, The teachers said that the spinning device we created was the least interesting part of our project. What turned out to be the most interesting of our project was 'the theft' itself. They really liked the idea of us walking around the museum with these long wires in these devices while trying to capture the objects.

We went to boijmans to shoot new footage. This time we focused on filming the theft. We searched around for three objects and filmed ourselves wiring the object with our device. Guards looked suspicious towards us and kept talking into their radio. Afterwards Robin went to see a friend who could edit the video. Sjoerd, Ciska and Me went back to V2 where we prepped the presentation table. I made sure we had a A0 foam board, electricity and I hanged up the wired object with Ciska. Eventually Tineke came with the photos and titles and Robin brought the film and a projector.

KICK OFF IMAGES

For the Kick Off we were supposed to go to the Boijmans Museum and photograph 8 images. We had to print them out and the images with us to our first day.
-An interesting architectural detail.
-The most curious object form from the(per-industrial) applied arts and design collection.
-The most curious form from the applied arts and design collection.
-The most curious material or texture from the applied arts and design collection.
-The most representative object/work of your 'craft'/'way of making' from any collection.
-The most moving object/work of any exhibited collection.
-A moving work that is not exhibited but part of the collection.
-A special find from the Boijmans library.

Day One - 07/09/2015

I met the team I am working with. We learned to use the Wiki, what our assignment is and discussed the images we took with us. We are going to design a device to scan certain data from the museum. We have to do this stealthy. We would have to design something portable and not very noticeable. We discussed and chose what data (relief) we wanted to scan.

Day Two - 08/09/2015

We discussed about our previous decision of scanning relief. We shifted towards another idea with using contours of objects. We created handheld devices to keep the iron wire steady, starting working on rotors for the platform and I tested if ironwire can melt through foam. It seemed to work with the smaller wire. the bigger wire did not generate enough heat to melt through.

Day Three - 09/09/2015

We went into boijmans and captured the linings of our objects with a small device with wire. We walked around with the wires and devices in our jackets. After we had enough objects captured, we went back tot the Art work room, where we discussed which three objects we wanted to use. After that was decided, people were given tasks for each object. I had to bend the hard copper wire into the same shape as the one we used in the museum. I also had to test melting the foam. except his time with the lining of an object from boijmans. This worked, though it was hard to get the wire out of the foam. This is due the length of the wire and that it starts deforming by heat.

Day Four - 10/09/2015

Today we started working on making the actual objects spin. Tineke couldn't be there with the rotors, so we ended up having to find a different solution. we came up with a more analog version like a music box. where you had to interact with the object to make it spin.

Day Five - 11/09/2015
