During the research into this object, the strobe light. I found different connections to social issues. For example the first major use of the strobe light was to photograph atomic bomb explosions during the second world war as a part of the Manhattan Project. The influence or inducing effect of epilepsy was found during a 1997 episode of the anime Pokemon during the episode Electric Soldier Porygon. This is also the reason why fire alarms or any other flashing alarm only strobe 1 Hz.
In a research paper of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology was found that Stobe lights have a positive effect on the brain of people who suffer from alzheimers decease. It shows that when exposed to 40 Hz light strobing this may reduce the risk of toxic beta amyloid proteins in the brain. This research is still at the early stages of experimenting. They only tried it out on mice where it seemed to work for 24 hours after each treatment. In these 24 hours the buildup of protein plaque was reduced.
In my project I have made a machine that functions as a more interesting experience when undergoing such treatment with strobe light.
The next step for my project is to work together with a scientist to take my project to the next level. I would like to actually test it out on people and therefore I need to fine tune things such as get the oscilations right and think of what is most comfortable for people with alzheimers to use. The goal for this would be that in the future, people with alzheimer's would be able to use this every day or week in their own house or place they feel comfortable.
