Man Ray mounted a brush used by craftsmen to apply gold leaf between two plates of plexiglas.
'Au Poil' in an informal French expression indicating that something had been done perfectly.
'Au Poil', on the other hand, means naked and 'poil' means the hair on the head.
In 1971 this 'improved' readymade was produced in a limited edition of fifty.
It was Man Ray's last multiple work.
