The first lesson we met our teacher, he talked about the elective. We are going to to build a plotter together. And each group has to do something with it. We got some homework, make 3D-prints for parts of the plotter. After we put everything together we divided the group again to start thinking what to do with the plotter. My group (Dylan van Wijk and myself) wanted to create a "useless" cutting machine. We did some research on robots that use knives.
We ended up with a knife that would "draw" something in the subsoil. We chose for cheddar cheese. So you can upload a line drawing and the knife will "draw" it into the cheese. Because the knife can not rotate, you get some kind of weird shape in your surface.
