THE QUESTIONS

What is the theme I am investigating?

Facial expressions (Physical anthropology) -> Use for identification, use for the purpose of understanding human physicla variation.

THE NEW HOMO SAPIEN(S)

The concept is about recognition of facial identity & facial expression as we know it. By having something that is a hybrid of complete different faces, the recognition of this becomes blurred. The recognition of what we know becomes blurred, which will leave people wondering, giving it interesting reactions.

How does this relate to the body, identity, and technology?

Identity & Body:

Faces express a ton of social signals.

A view in face perception reseach has been that the recognition of facial identity & facial expression involves separable visual pathways at the functional levels, and data from experimental images/videos could back this up.

Technology:

Thought experimenting with several different digital practices [Printer, scanners, kinect etc] could lead to interesting results which then could be put forth to form exciting elements.

These elements will be expanded and will take shape with outputs such as 3D printers, alongside other media which have digital aspects to them.
