I am a spatial designer that makes use of the minor digital craft as tool to create work that follows my vision and goal.
My goal is to help people find hidden wonder, magic and beauty. My vision is to provide an escape from the everyday stress and give the user new dreams and inspiration.
I see much stressed people that overbook their schedules and always feel like time is in shortage. We all say beautiful things on the internet like; you only live once, make every day count, live every day like it is your last. But only seldom I see a true hedonist. How do we integrate our thoughts about the pursuit of happiness into reality?
My work evolves around this question, it seeks for a solution and awareness. The solutions I create are based in a physical space, they are a full immersive experience. The experience is based in an existing function in the public space.
Throughout different periods of time there are ways people seek entertainment, a break from work and obligations, recreations, stress relieve activities. One of many and also one of the first ever invented is Illusionism/magic. A illusionist that uses the boundaries of physics to his fullest extend. A way to make rationalism disappear and make people believe that how we perceive the world might be a very confined, narrow way of thinking.
I believe that every person witnessing illusionism, felt for a moment that anything is possible. That moment is what I see as the ultimate stress relieve and inspiration source.
The experience will be in existing functions that puts focus on functionality and rationality. Think about offices, gyms, government related buildings, schools and other every day functions. My experience will be a unexpected, unplanned interruption of the space. The experience creates an alternative universe, it makes everything around the room fade and give the user a feeling of transporting to another planet.
My work makes use of space, movement, routing and reaction. Each project I aim to experiment with the use of light, routing, physics, and material use to give the project extra individuality and to make the work innovative. Every project requires a different experiment, to define which part Contemporary artists that have likewise work are Daan Roosegaarde, Olafur Eliasson, Zaha Hadid, Hitomi Sato.
The experiences I create are based on touch, sight and if possible taste and smell. I find physical space inevitable in my work. Newer technologies might argue with the ‘physical space’ part of my work. Digital spaces are commonly used in contemporary art.
