The following elective will be based on the project [http://luciadossin.net/excelfie.html Excelfie] by design Lucia Dossin, where selfie (images), captured by a digital camera are converted onto plain-text files (ASCII-art). In these text-based images, the sequence of pixels of the captured images is mapped onto corresponding text characters, in order to create text-based rendition of the original bit map image.&lt;br /&gt;

What are digital (bit-map) images? In their simpler form nothing more but sequence of pixels, each with its color value, organized into lines and rows. Such form of representing image information is uncannily similar to how text is represented digitally: a line-by-line sequence of characters, each with its corresponding value (code point). Can this similarity be used to transform pixel-based images into similar looking images made solely by text? And what happens when we reverse the process and try to get  the text-based images into pixels using Optical Character Recognition software?&lt;br /&gt;

Gebruik RISO MZ 1070E&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
De RISO is een stencilmachine. In deze stencilmachine wordt je afbeelding omgezet in een sjabloon. Dit sjabloon wordt om een, met gaas bespannen en inkt gevulde trommel, gewikkeld. &amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Door de rotatie van deze trommel wordt de inkt door dit sjabloon op het papier overgebracht. Deze vorm van drukken delen we dan ook in bij de doordruk-technieken.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
In de RISO MZ 1070E is de mogelijkheid twee kleuren in één drukgang te drukken. Te bedrukken papierformaat is A3 of kleiner. Maximaal 240 gram.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
* &#039;&#039;&#039;Voorbereidingen&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
In alle gevallen eerst de machine aanzetten. Knop aan de rechter zijde. &lt;br /&gt;
De machine zal &#039;&#039;&#039;niets&#039;&#039;&#039; doen zonder papier, dus voer altijd wat papier in. De papier invoer bevindt zich aan de linker kant. &lt;br /&gt;
Vervolgens zetten we gewenste kleuren in de machine. Bij het openmaken van de deur aan de voorkant zien we twee drums (trommels). &lt;br /&gt;
Om deze te wisselen moeten ze eerst worden vrijgegeven. In het midden van de twee drums bevindt zich een groen knopje. &lt;br /&gt;
Wanneer deze wordt ingedrukt worden de drums vrijgegeven, herkenbaar door dat het groene knopje licht gaat geven. &lt;br /&gt;
Wanneer je nu het groene handvat aan één van de twee drums vastpakt kun je deze naar je toe trekken en zal de drum uit de machine schuiven. &lt;br /&gt;
Aan de achterzijde van de drum bevindt zich ook een groen handvat. Aan beide handvaten kun je de drum omhoog, uit de rails, trekken en er op de zelfde plek een andere drum plaatsen met de gewenste kleur. &lt;br /&gt;
Schuif de gewenste trommels weer in hun oorspronkelijke positie. &lt;br /&gt;
Nu kan er worden begonnen met het maken van de master(s).&lt;br /&gt;
 &lt;br /&gt;
*&#039;&#039;&#039;Master maken&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
Het eerder besproken sjabloon noemen we een master. &lt;br /&gt;
Er zijn twee wegen om een master te maken. De eerste is via de flatbed-scanner op het apparaat zelf (zoals bij een kopieermachine). &lt;br /&gt;
Bij de tweede lees je via de computer je beeld digitaal in (zoals bij een printer).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
- 1kleur via flatbed&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Voor het maken van een beeld met één kleur kies je op het touchscreen van de RISO de kleur vaarvoor je een master wilt maken. Vervolgens de optie „MasterMake”.&lt;br /&gt;
	N.B. Het is aan te raden om de drum van die kleur op de eerste positie in de machine te zetten (links). &lt;br /&gt;
	Wanneer deze zich in de tweede positie bevindt zal die om de drum in de eerste positie een blanco master maken die je ook moet afrekenen! &lt;br /&gt;
	Wanneer de master om de drum in de eerste positie wordt gemaakt zal de drum en de tweede positie door de machine iets omhoog worden &lt;br /&gt;
	gebracht en verder niet gebruikt worden.&lt;br /&gt;
De volgende stap is je beeld op de flatbed te leggen. Het flexibele grit kan gebruikt worden voor het bepalen van de juiste plaats ten opzichte van het te bedrukken papier.&lt;br /&gt;
Als je je beeld desgewenst wil vergroten of verkleinen, donkerder of lichter maken kun je dit op dit moment op de touchscreen aan geven. &lt;br /&gt;
Wanneer alle instelling gemaakt zijn kun je op de groene knop drukken en wordt de master gemaakt.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
- 2kleuren flatbed&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Het maken van masters voor beide trommels gaat in principe op de zelfde manier. Kies bij aanvang voor de optie „Tweekleurig” en vervolgens weer voor „Mastermake”&lt;br /&gt;
Er zijn vervolgens twee manieren om verder te gaan.&lt;br /&gt;
Je kunt je origineel (geprinte beeld) onderverdelen in de kleuren zwart en rood. Kies dan op de touchscreen voor „&#039;&#039;&#039;Easy2kleurig&#039;&#039;&#039;”. &lt;br /&gt;
Vervolgens voor „Rode kleur” en dan „ok”. De machine zal na het scannen van dit origineel de zwarte delen van de afbeelding op de master voor de drum in de eerste positie maken en de rode delen voor de drum in de tweede positie. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Een andere manier is om je origineel in twee verschillende prints, kleurgescheiden, los van elkaar te scannen. &lt;br /&gt;
Wanneer de opties „Tweekleurig” en „MasterMake” zijn gekozen kan het eerste origineel (kleur 1) op de flatbed gelegd worden. &lt;br /&gt;
Na het drukken op de groene knop zal de master voor de drum in de eerste positie gemaakt worden. &lt;br /&gt;
Vervolgens leg je het 2e origineel op de flatbed en drukt opnieuw op de groene knop. &lt;br /&gt;
Nu zal de tweede master worden gemaakt.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Via computer&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Open je bestand in een programma naar keuze.&lt;br /&gt;
Geef een print-opdracht voor het desbetreffende beeld. &lt;br /&gt;
In het printmenu kies je als printer &#039;&#039;&#039;MZ1070.&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
Stel het juiste papier formaat in.&lt;br /&gt;
Wanneer je een bestand hebt dat uit meerdere pagina’s bestaat zorg dat er maar 1 geprint wordt (bijv. Pages: From  2 to 2)&lt;br /&gt;
Ga vervolgens opzoek naar het menu van de RISO. Waar dit te vinden is verschilt per programma. &lt;br /&gt;
In &#039;&#039;&#039;Preview&#039;&#039;&#039; is het in het printvenster te vinden onder de knop &#039;&#039;&#039;preview&#039;&#039;&#039;. In het rolmenu dat verschijnt selecteer je &#039;&#039;&#039;RISO IS300.&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
In de meeste Adobe programma’s is het te vinden onder &#039;&#039;&#039;printsettings/printer&#039;&#039;&#039;. In het rolmenu dat verschijnt selecteer je &#039;&#039;&#039;RISO IS300.&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
Kies vervolgens &#039;&#039;&#039;Settings&#039;&#039;&#039;. &lt;br /&gt;
In het menu dat nu verschijnt kies je de optie &#039;&#039;&#039;Coloring&#039;&#039;&#039;.&lt;br /&gt;
Controleer of de eerder geplaatste drums ook door het programma herkent worden (rechtsonder)&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
- 1kleur&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Kies voor de optie &#039;&#039;&#039;mono-color print&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
&#039;&#039;&#039;Selecteer de kleur&#039;&#039;&#039; in het rolmenu en druk ok &lt;br /&gt;
Maak de printopdracht af&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
- 2 kleuren zwart en rood&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Kies voor de optie &#039;&#039;&#039;dual-color print&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
Selecteer &#039;&#039;&#039;both of colors&#039;&#039;&#039; en druk ok &lt;br /&gt;
Maak de printopdracht af&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
- 2 kleuren  kleurgescheiden lagen&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Wanneer je je kleurlagen in losse bestanden of layers hebt maken we per kleur apart een master.&lt;br /&gt;
Kies voor de optie &#039;&#039;&#039;dual-color print&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
Selecteer color 1 only en druk ok &lt;br /&gt;
Maak de printopdracht af&lt;br /&gt;
Voor de master van de tweede kleurlaag herhaal je de bovenstaande stappen maar kiest &#039;&#039;&#039;color 2 only&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*&#039;&#039;&#039;Drukken&#039;&#039;&#039;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Bij het maken van iedere master maakt de RISO een testafdruk. &lt;br /&gt;
Het is normaal dat de eerste paar drukken nog wat schraal zijn. Na een aantal afdrukken loopt het beeld vanzelf verder vol.&lt;br /&gt;
Vaak is het nodig de twee lagen nog preciezer op elkaar af te stellen om de afbeelding sluitend te kunnen drukken.&lt;br /&gt;
Beide afbeeldingen zijn te verplaatsen met knoppen op de machine, twee cirkels met aan iedere zeide een pijltjes toets kunnen hiervoor gebruikt worden. &lt;br /&gt;
Iedere keer drukken verplaatst het beeld 0,5mm in de richting van de gekozen pijl. &lt;br /&gt;
Om het beeld weer op zijn oorspronkelijke plaats terug te zetten druk je op de knop in het midden van de cirkel (-&amp;gt;0&amp;lt;-)&lt;br /&gt;
Het drukken gaat vervolgens als bij een kopieermachine. Je kiest het gewenste aantal en drukt op de groene knop.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*&#039;&#039;&#039;Drogen&#039;&#039;&#039;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
De inkt van de RISO is niet-drogend. Het zal altijd iets blijven afgeven. Het is aan te raden tenminste 2 dagen te wachten voor een voor een volgende kleurlaag te drukken.&lt;br /&gt;
Papieren met een groot absorptie vermogen nemen de olie uit de inkt beter op en zullen ook „droger” drukwerk opleveren,&lt;/div&gt;</summary>

Gebruik RISO MZ 1070E&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
De RISO is een stencilmachine. In deze stencilmachine wordt je afbeelding omgezet in een sjabloon. Dit sjabloon wordt om een, met gaas bespannen en inkt gevulde trommel, gewikkeld. &amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Door de rotatie van deze trommel wordt de inkt door dit sjabloon op het papier overgebracht. Deze vorm van drukken delen we dan ook in bij de doordruk-technieken.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
In de RISO MZ 1070E is de mogelijkheid twee kleuren in één drukgang te drukken. Te bedrukken papierformaat is A3 of kleiner. Maximaal 240 gram.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&#039;&#039;&#039;Voorbereidingen&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
In alle gevallen eerst de machine aanzetten. Knop aan de rechter zijde. &lt;br /&gt;
De machine zal &#039;&#039;&#039;niets&#039;&#039;&#039; doen zonder papier, dus voer altijd wat papier in. De papier invoer bevindt zich aan de linker kant. &lt;br /&gt;
Vervolgens zetten we gewenste kleuren in de machine. Bij het openmaken van de deur aan de voorkant zien we twee drums (trommels). &lt;br /&gt;
Om deze te wisselen moeten ze eerst worden vrijgegeven. In het midden van de twee drums bevindt zich een groen knopje. &lt;br /&gt;
Wanneer deze wordt ingedrukt worden de drums vrijgegeven, herkenbaar door dat het groene knopje licht gaat geven. &lt;br /&gt;
Wanneer je nu het groene handvat aan één van de twee drums vastpakt kun je deze naar je toe trekken en zal de drum uit de machine schuiven. &lt;br /&gt;
Aan de achterzijde van de drum bevindt zich ook een groen handvat. Aan beide handvaten kun je de drum omhoog, uit de rails, trekken en er op de zelfde plek een andere drum plaatsen met de gewenste kleur. &lt;br /&gt;
Schuif de gewenste trommels weer in hun oorspronkelijke positie. &lt;br /&gt;
Nu kan er worden begonnen met het maken van de master(s).&lt;br /&gt;
 &lt;br /&gt;
&#039;&#039;&#039;Master maken&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
Het eerder besproken sjabloon noemen we een master. &lt;br /&gt;
Er zijn twee wegen om een master te maken. De eerste is via de flatbed-scanner op het apparaat zelf (zoals bij een kopieermachine). &lt;br /&gt;
Bij de tweede lees je via de computer je beeld digitaal in (zoals bij een printer).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
- 1kleur via flatbed&lt;br /&gt;
Voor het maken van een beeld met één kleur kies je op het touchscreen van de RISO de kleur vaarvoor je een master wilt maken. Vervolgens de optie „MasterMake”.&lt;br /&gt;
	N.B. Het is aan te raden om de drum van die kleur op de eerste positie in de machine te zetten (links). &lt;br /&gt;
	Wanneer deze zich in de tweede positie bevindt zal die om de drum in de eerste positie een blanco master maken die je ook moet afrekenen! &lt;br /&gt;
	Wanneer de master om de drum in de eerste positie wordt gemaakt zal de drum en de tweede positie door de machine iets omhoog worden &lt;br /&gt;
	gebracht en verder niet gebruikt worden.&lt;br /&gt;
De volgende stap is je beeld op de flatbed te leggen. Het flexibele grit kan gebruikt worden voor het bepalen van de juiste plaats ten opzichte van het te bedrukken papier.&lt;br /&gt;
Als je je beeld desgewenst wil vergroten of verkleinen, donkerder of lichter maken kun je dit op dit moment op de touchscreen aan geven. &lt;br /&gt;
Wanneer alle instelling gemaakt zijn kun je op de groene knop drukken en wordt de master gemaakt.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
- 2kleuren flatbed&lt;br /&gt;
Het maken van masters voor beide trommels gaat in principe op de zelfde manier. Kies bij aanvang voor de optie „Tweekleurig” en vervolgens weer voor „Mastermake”&lt;br /&gt;
Er zijn vervolgens twee manieren om verder te gaan.&lt;br /&gt;
Je kunt je origineel (geprinte beeld) onderverdelen in de kleuren zwart en rood. Kies dan op de touchscreen voor „&#039;&#039;&#039;Easy2kleurig&#039;&#039;&#039;”. &lt;br /&gt;
Vervolgens voor „Rode kleur” en dan „ok”. De machine zal na het scannen van dit origineel de zwarte delen van de afbeelding op de master voor de drum in de eerste positie maken en de rode delen voor de drum in de tweede positie. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Een andere manier is om je origineel in twee verschillende prints, kleurgescheiden, los van elkaar te scannen. &lt;br /&gt;
Wanneer de opties „Tweekleurig” en „MasterMake” zijn gekozen kan het eerste origineel (kleur 1) op de flatbed gelegd worden. &lt;br /&gt;
Na het drukken op de groene knop zal de master voor de drum in de eerste positie gemaakt worden. &lt;br /&gt;
Vervolgens leg je het 2e origineel op de flatbed en drukt opnieuw op de groene knop. &lt;br /&gt;
Nu zal de tweede master worden gemaakt.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Via computer&lt;br /&gt;
Open je bestand in een programma naar keuze.&lt;br /&gt;
Geef een print-opdracht voor het desbetreffende beeld. &lt;br /&gt;
In het printmenu kies je als printer &#039;&#039;&#039;MZ1070.&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
Stel het juiste papier formaat in.&lt;br /&gt;
Wanneer je een bestand hebt dat uit meerdere pagina’s bestaat zorg dat er maar 1 geprint wordt (bijv. Pages: From  2 to 2)&lt;br /&gt;
Ga vervolgens opzoek naar het menu van de RISO. Waar dit te vinden is verschilt per programma. &lt;br /&gt;
In &#039;&#039;&#039;Preview&#039;&#039;&#039; is het in het printvenster te vinden onder de knop &#039;&#039;&#039;preview&#039;&#039;&#039;. In het rolmenu dat verschijnt selecteer je &#039;&#039;&#039;RISO IS300.&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
In de meeste Adobe programma’s is het te vinden onder &#039;&#039;&#039;printsettings/printer&#039;&#039;&#039;. In het rolmenu dat verschijnt selecteer je &#039;&#039;&#039;RISO IS300.&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
Kies vervolgens &#039;&#039;&#039;Settings&#039;&#039;&#039;. &lt;br /&gt;
In het menu dat nu verschijnt kies je de optie &#039;&#039;&#039;Coloring&#039;&#039;&#039;.&lt;br /&gt;
Controleer of de eerder geplaatste drums ook door het programma herkent worden (rechtsonder)&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
- 1kleur&lt;br /&gt;
Kies voor de optie &#039;&#039;&#039;mono-color print&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
&#039;&#039;&#039;Selecteer de kleur&#039;&#039;&#039; in het rolmenu en druk ok &lt;br /&gt;
Maak de printopdracht af&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
- 2 kleuren zwart en rood&lt;br /&gt;
Kies voor de optie &#039;&#039;&#039;dual-color print&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
Selecteer &#039;&#039;&#039;both of colors&#039;&#039;&#039; en druk ok &lt;br /&gt;
Maak de printopdracht af&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
- 2 kleuren  kleurgescheiden lagen&lt;br /&gt;
Wanneer je je kleurlagen in losse bestanden of layers hebt maken we per kleur apart een master.&lt;br /&gt;
Kies voor de optie &#039;&#039;&#039;dual-color print&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
Selecteer color 1 only en druk ok &lt;br /&gt;
Maak de printopdracht af&lt;br /&gt;
Voor de master van de tweede kleurlaag herhaal je de bovenstaande stappen maar kiest &#039;&#039;&#039;color 2 only&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Drukken&lt;br /&gt;
Bij het maken van iedere master maakt de RISO een testafdruk. &lt;br /&gt;
Het is normaal dat de eerste paar drukken nog wat schraal zijn. Na een aantal afdrukken loopt het beeld vanzelf verder vol.&lt;br /&gt;
Vaak is het nodig de twee lagen nog preciezer op elkaar af te stellen om de afbeelding sluitend te kunnen drukken.&lt;br /&gt;
Beide afbeeldingen zijn te verplaatsen met knoppen op de machine, twee cirkels met aan iedere zeide een pijltjes toets kunnen hiervoor gebruikt worden. &lt;br /&gt;
Iedere keer drukken verplaatst het beeld 0,5mm in de richting van de gekozen pijl. &lt;br /&gt;
Om het beeld weer op zijn oorspronkelijke plaats terug te zetten druk je op de knop in het midden van de cirkel (-&amp;gt;0&amp;lt;-)&lt;br /&gt;
Het drukken gaat vervolgens als bij een kopieermachine. Je kiest het gewenste aantal en drukt op de groene knop.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Drogen&lt;br /&gt;
De inkt van de RISO is niet-drogend. Het zal altijd iets blijven afgeven. Het is aan te raden tenminste 2 dagen te wachten voor een voor een volgende kleurlaag te drukken.&lt;br /&gt;
Papieren met een groot absorptie vermogen nemen de olie uit de inkt beter op en zullen ook „droger” drukwerk opleveren,&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
