== How to prepare your documents for printing==
• make a PDF, like PDF/x a:2001<br />
• save as a JPG or TIFF, unaltered <br />
• print from Photoshop, Preview or Acrobat Pro <br />
• when saving as PDF, put compression on 150 dpi <br />
• if Adobe Illustrator files refuse to print, save them as JPG

== Best way of printing ==

All printers need to know:

• what size is the paper you want to print on?<br />
• in what drawer is the paper (for your own paper: multiple purpose tray)  check paper source in the print menu.<br />
• should it be a 100% file, or scaled to fit?<br />
• is it single sided or double sided, and is it flipped on the long or short edge? (Finishing)

== On the Canon printer ==

Log in with your student pass. Always click on Print and Keep.

In that way you won't have to send it again when something goes wrong on that printer.<br />
After midnight your files will be erased.<br />
When using your own paper with the multiple purpose tray, also click on settings on your computer. <br />
Here you will find many types of paper. <br />
For transparant plastic sheets, use clear film! <br />
Only use plastic sheets that are designed for laser printing! <br />
Otherwise you can seriously damage the printer, because it will melt!<br />

When you print on your own paper, first click Print and Keep and wait for the three beeps.<br />
Now the machine asks you to put your paper in the multiple purpose tray.<br />
The printer recognizes the paper type that you filled in on "settings". <br />
Confirm if it is right.<br />
If you forgot to fill in the right paper quality, you can still change it on the printer by clicking on the icon on the lower left.<br />
NOTE: you can not change to CLEAR FILM here! Please send it again with the right settings.<br />

== Printing BOOKS ==

the most important setting and most made mistake for printing books is FLIP ON THE SHORT EDGE.<br />
The default setting will always be Long Edge, so you need to change this.<br />
All books should have the setting Flip on the short edge.<br />

If you print your book as a PDF, keep in mind that Preview and Acrobat do not respect your spine. <br />
There will be a space between the pages, so printing a photo spread will go wrong here.<br />
If you made your book / magazine in InDesign, there is a "print booklet" option.<br />
Check all settings. The preview should be okay. If not, do not print, but check the settings.<br />
Indesign respects the fact that pages should have no space between them. So spreads will have no white space in the middle here.<br />

<br />

==For a better quality,==
you can also use the canon c600i, located in the Print Studio.<br />
There will always be someone to help you. Make your PDF single paged and preferably PDF/x a:2001. <br />
You can airdrop it from your laptop or iPhone. In case of windows, use a USB stick.




== Hoe bereid je je documenten voor om te printen  ==
* Zorg voor een goede PDF, zoals PDF/X a: 2001<br />
* of bewaar als JPG, of als éénlagige TIFF<br />
* Print vanuit Photoshop, Preview of Acrobat Pro<br />
* Bij het opslaan als PDF, zet de compressie op 150 dpi.<br />
* Zet illustrator bestanden met verlopen om in Photoshop (vectoren naar pixels) en bewaar als JPG.<br />

== Hoe kun je het beste printen ==

* Controleer de papiergrootte (A3 of A4)<br />
* Controleer of je naar de goede lade print (Multiple Purpose Tray voor eigen papier of automatisch voor standaard papier).<br />
* Je vind dit bij Paper Source.<br />
* Standaard staat dubbelzijdig printen aan. Zet dit uit bij Printsetting > Finishing. <br />
* Let goed op over welke kant het papier moet keren. Pas dit aan bij Finishing<br />

== En op de Canon printer ==

Log in met je studentenpas. Klik altijd op Print and Keep, zodat je niet opnieuw hoeft te sturen als er iets mis gaat. <br />
Na middernacht wordt dit document alsnog gewist van de server.<br />
Als je naar de Multiple Purpose Tray stuurt, geef dan gelijk bij de settings aan wat voor soort papier je gaat gebruiken.<br />
Geef eerst de printopdracht op de Canon en wacht tot er drie piepjes klinken. Stop dan pas je papier in de lade.<br />
Altijd met de lange kant van een A4 eerst.
Bij boekjes (booklet print) en bij liggende pagina's moet je altijd over de korte zijde laten keren.<br />
De standaardinstelling is de lange zijde. Dit kun je aanpassen in het venster Finishing.<br />
