With this plus program I want to focus on new techniques on printing fabrics. Using machines and the hand made into an art form. Focussing on the exploration of machines. Using the Affordance Theory.

‘’James Bibson was influential in changing the way we consider visual perception. According to his theory, perception of the environment inevitably leads to some course of action. Affordances, or clues in the environment that indicate possibilities for action, are perceived in a direct, immediate way with no sensory processing. ‘’

To use this way of looking at the machines I hope to find a hidden affordance. With means to use the machine in a way that it was not intended. The experiments ‘’artworks’’ are never an end work but more an journey to create. This project will be a collab with Joep. This because it creates more room for new insights and because its fun. (Jorijn)

For this project I want to collaborate with Jorijn, we are both interested in illustrations together with graphic design. The guiding principle and focus of this project will be print, print linked to machines. We both follow digital-craft, allowing the craft to be influenced by machine plays a major role in this practice. What can the machine bring us, what influence does this have on the outcome and how can we let our creativity be influenced by this method.

Every week we give ourselves an assignment that will be linked to a machine within the academy. Within this self-created assignment, a bundled illustration style will be created that is unique. We can use this visual language that we develop with the help and influence of the machines and combine them in the process towards a final creation. (Joep)
