Unravel The Code Marathon year 2

In a 2 day project with the students from Maryland Institute of College and Art (MICA) we have created a project named Pirate Radio. We started the project with a few components to create an EM Sniffer (device to transform EM waves in sound).

We had a group meeting to decide what context we would give the EM sniffer. We decided to split the group in 3. One group created the EM Sniffer, One group worked with motherboards that could talk through EM waves and one group created a video to give the components a story.

The result was a video were two hard drives spoke to each other about loving each other. Before the video was a harddrive that changed speeds according to the story. And the EM sniffer could hear the changes of speed emitted by the EM waves of the harddrive.

The message we wanted to send was that machines might just be talking to each other all day through these EM waves, and if they were talking, what would they say. What if we would start feeling empathy for machines? We chose a love story because we felt that in a short amount of time that would make people feel compasionate for the machines.
