Why do I make?

I make things because I feel that is the best way to be myself, to express myself and to get to know myself better, to reinvent myself. In general to become more selfaware. Not only who I am right now, but also who I want to be (become) and in what way I can, not only be a part of a community, or a specific group of artists or a certain profession, but I also make to somehow try to contribute to making the world a better place. I've used my creativity ever since I was young to express how I feel but in the last few weeks I've been thinking and reflecting on why I make, why I chose fashion, apart from being my passion and fascination, to be my profession. I've been dancing for more that a decade, writing poetry and short biographical / non-fiction stories, I like to paint, to draw and I've joined the circus for a couple of years. I like multiple creativities and therefore I would subscribe myself as an artist not only a fashiondesigner.

I like to share my work, for example on instagram, and I'm a big fan of hashtags. I share to inspire people, to connect with like-minded people such as androgyn models (like myself), or people who also try to fade genderboundries. I also share to get more confidence out of the support I get from people that don't know me but value what I make. I also share to be heared, for most of my poetry is about my own intens emotions and positive comments have an amazing, stimulating and motivating effect on me. I also share to show diversity and that I'm owning my identity and I'm Proud of who I am.

With my appearance and my designs in fashion, I can not only express how I feel but I can also make a statement about refusing the adopted standard in woman- and menswear. I make (design fashion) for my own pleasure, because it makes me happy, It gets me back in the present; I get out of my head. I want to change the general perspective on genderboundries by trying to fade them in my designs and appearance. Sharing it online with hashtags makes it easy to spread my work, my vision and my statement and I get known by people who share the same interest, feelings or have like-minded ideas, or just happen to like what I post.
