Concept

Last quarter I worked with the Korean language. I can't read or speak Korean. I broke up the characters and made my own. Then I though what if I do the same with the Latin script. Which I can read and most of the time understand. Can I make these characters in a way that it are not characters anymore but a form. It js a challenge to do this in 3D because I never worked with 3D type before. See the experience under here.

Woodcarving

Wood carving is a form of woodworking by means of a cutting tool (knife) in one hand or a chisel by two hands or with one hand on a chisel and one hand on a mallet, resulting in a wooden figure or figurine, or in the sculptural ornamentation of a wooden object.

Stonecarving

Stone carving is an ancient activity where pieces of rough natural stone are shaped by the controlled removal of stone. Owing to the permanence of the material, stone work has survived which was created during our prehistory.

I started with a workshop from High on Type with Janno Hahn on 27 Februari. The first images are what I have done during the workshop. The images after is what I translated in the concept.

Soapcarving

Carving in soap, create forms and you can use it as a mold to multiply the object.

Together with Simone and Astrid we made 3 different soaps. After this we went to ceramic station. There we grease the form with silicone. This action did not go how we wanted to go. We wanted to create a mold but I ended up with a silicone soap, A negative of my own version which is also nice to see.

Lasercut

Lasercut do you do with a lasercutter. This machine can cut through different materials and can also engrave.

I created a graphic in my dummy. With the scanner I created a composition. To enter the paper a couple times and print it over and over I did not exactly know what my result was. I digitized the form in illustrator and lasercut it out of the paper.

Digital carving

Cinema 4D is a program in which you can create 3D forms and animations.

I never worked with this program before. Which was a little bit different to create what you want. But with the help of different tutorials I created a nice composition.

Ik ben een maker . omdat ik de drang heb om te creëren met mijn handen. . omdat ik graag leer van anderen waarna ik zelf aan de slag wil. . omdat ik niet bang ben om ergens aan te beginnen. . omdat ik graag met materialen werk. . omdat ik graag communiceer met beelden.
