[edit]WordPress is an open source framework to make websites. By downloading it and installing it on a server, you can do lots of things without even the need of knowing how to program.
With the self-hosted version of WP, you can install any Theme and Plugin you wish – not only the ones included in the basic install. That immensely increases your possibilities.
