Three Stories

'Introducing: 3 Stories.' A new place to exhibit work of students in the WdKA. In the Printmaking Studio a repurposed Trash Bunker found LED lightbox in which students are invited to show their work. The lights turn on and off every fifteen minutes, showing you two different versions of the doublesided prints inside.The first exhibition is by Charlotte Muniken, with her work Siege.

Siege was born out of a desire to combine mixed-media illustration and risograph printing, my two favorite practices in one! As the beginning piece to my ongoing graduation project, I tried to fit in as many mediums and methods into one *almost coherent* artwork, as I saw fit.

Going ham on the ornamental frame, mixing it with stickers for an added kitsch effect and soft clouds made of ripped cotton pads above an AI generated landscape. I couldn’t but disrupt the tranquility of this daylight scene with the emergence of a fierce dragon (I will always find an opportunity to draw dragons), seemingly conjured by the light of occult symbols in the portal.

With a warm thank you to Baschz and the Publication Station for coming up with the amazing concept of the 3 Stories light box and inspiring me to explore the possibilities and limitations of this format. Can’t wait to see what new ideas fellow students will come up with!

'14 LAYERS OF RISO.'In another exhibition place in the academy, the Red Floor Gallery in the Blaak basement, you can now see an archival poster exhibition.
For a year and a half, at the end of the day on Tuesday evening, Publication Station’s Baschz took all 14 differently coloured drums from the Riso printers and printed the images that were already on there over each other, creating 45 different 14 layer posters. Each one of them an interesting incomplete archive of what has been made in that week.
